Fountain City Connections
Working to connect neighborhoods in Knoxville, Tennessee

Join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. at Panera on Broadway in Fountain City!

Fountain City Connections is an organization that has been formed by a group of people who have come together for the purpose of making Knoxville a more pedestrian-friendly place.  Our specific focus is to promote the development of sidewalks and greenways, as well as educational programs which will draw the attention of both pedestrians and drivers to safe practices.  In short, we want safe places for people to walk and run, etc. for healthier, and ultimately, what we believe will be happier lives.

Fountain City Connections (initially the Fountain City Sidewalks and Greenways Task Force) originated at the pedestrian workshop (April 2006) from the challenge by noted pedestrian advocate Mark Fenton to “do something” to affect change in our community.  The pedestrian audit and subsequent workshop opened our eyes to the challenges faced by pedestrians in our area, and further, to possible changes that could take place to make our community “walkable.”
